Momenti Piccoli

It is Sara's ninth birthday tomorrow!  We had a fun weekend to celebrate, especially considering that the Immacolata Concezione (today) is a holiday in Italy and there is no school or work!

On Friday night we had homemade pizza and watched a movie all together, us girls spent our Saturday shopping after my English lesson, Sunday was the birthday party with the family, and today after Mass we went pattinaggio sul ghiaccio (ice skating) with family friends in the most popular spot in Milan.

BIRTHDAY PRINCESS! Fun fact: the name Sara really does mean princess..
Did you know Lavender turns cheese blue?  Because I did not even know it exists..let alone Pesto cheese (on right).

Now, I would like to share a touching moment.

While I was waiting for the girls near an exit of a store, I witnessed an adorable scene.  There was an elderly woman waiting for her husband next to me, and a little girl waiting for mom to finish paying.  The woman asked for one of the girl's chocolate covered raisins that she was holding.  The little girl did not think twice and handed one over.  The woman thanked her and, noticing me, stated it was so delicious.  Then her husband arrived and they walked out of the door.  Two minutes later the woman returned but since it was an exit only, she handed a small toy to the security guard at the door, and motioned for it to be delivered to the girl.  She blew the little girl a kiss through the glass door, and left.

It was just a simple and loving exchange between two human beings.

There need to be more moments like that.  It helps to realize we are all in this world together, not alone, and need to be present.
